About Our Vault Doors:
All of our vault doors utilize many of the same features. Our doors are custom manufactured in our own facility right here in the USA and this allows for doors to be built to the exact specifications that you require.
First, we always recommend an in-swing door. If you use your room for a storm shelter an in-swing door can not be obstructed from debris left by the passing storm.
Second, ALL of our doors have an inside release handle. This insures that you can not be locked inside the unit.
Third, our doors have a provision to disengage the exterior lock and opener from inside the vault should you need to use your room for security against home invasion.
Fourth, we utilize a random lock mount that will help foil attempted lock point drilling.
All of our doors are available with ceramic fiber and intumescent seal. This fiber and seal will help control heat transfer from the fire to the vault. This will help protect the contents of your vault. Door thickness is a common selling point for many door resellers and distributors. But overall door thickness (by including the hollow cavity) is not important to door security. ALL doors must have a hollow cavity to house the locking mechanism. What is important is the thickness and make up of the plate in front of the locking mechanism. SAFE AT HOME doors provide the features that count.
Door Installation:
There are many doors and installation systems available in today’s market. The Protector Series door is designed to be installed with an integral face frame and lag bolt system. The Defender Series door is designed to be installed with compression bolts located with in the frame (this is how bank vault doors are installed) or anchored with rods that are embedded in the concrete walls and welded to the frame. SAFE AT HOME highly recommends that the area between the frame and concrete walls are then filled with concrete.
